Nokia sues Apple over 10 iPhone patent infringements

Nokia is suing Apple claiming the iPhone maker is infringing on Nokia's patents with every iPhone that has shipped. According to Nokia the patents have been licensed by 40 other companies but Apple refused to pay.

"The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and wireless LAN standards. The patents cover wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models shipped since the iPhone was introduced in 2007."

According to The Business Insider Nokia is seaching a 1-2% royalty on each iPhone that has shipped. That's about $200-$400 million dollars. That's a lot of money, but chump change for these companies.
