Skype Running on Symbian Phones

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 26, 2006

Skype recently announced a partnership with Hutchinson that puts Skype on 3 networks around the world. The software would most likely run on the Symbian platform. All About Symbian reports Skype was running on a Nokia 6680 S60 Handset.

The S60 Skype application supported Skype text chat, Skype voice calls (both to PCs and to other S60 handsets), and Skype Out dialing, although there was a latency of up to about a second. That means it soulds scrubby and there's a noticeable delay. It is supposed to work a lot better over WiFi connections where the call would sound like a normal call.
